WAR with MICKEY!

Tuesday, May 31st, 2005

My hands were trembling…

My body was shaking…

My eyes were blur…

My heart was pumping too fast…

My voice was an octave higher…

My sweat rolled down like running water…

I didn’t dare walk a step…

BF was also holding my hands…

We felt each other’s heartbeat…

beating too fast…

TOG TOG…

TOG TOG…

TOG TOG…

Mickey_2

Mickey was hiding behind the cabinet!!!!

BF and I were both terrified.  No one dared to move.  We have a mouse trap in the house!  But where should we put it?  What bait should we use?  Chocolates? Yes, we thought Mickey would like sweets.  Hence, I slowly walked towards the ref to get the Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bar.  Pulled out the mouse trap hidden below one of the chairs in the living room.  Put the chocolate in it.  But what if the door of the mouse trap doesn’t close?  Mickey might escape.  No, I can’t sleep knowing the fact that I might wake up with Mickey crawling by my side. NO!!!!! Ah! I reserved a glue trap before just in case Mickey invades the house.  Perfect time for some glue power!  I got the glue trap and put it inside the mouse trap.  I was hoping Mickey doesn’t get away with this.  Where should we place it?  Near the cabinet where Mickey’s hiding.  Yes, everything was put in the right place.  We were still afraid…. I shut all the doors closed… Mickey might get inside the room or even inside the bathroom.

BF needed to go.  He’s AFRAID to go down the stairs as the cabinet is just located near the stairway.

BF: "Samahan mo ako bumaba…"

ME: … "ikaw nalang…"

BF: "takot ako e…"

ME: (getting furious)… "e takot din ako e!!!"

after a few more mintues…

ME: "nakikita ko sya… kunin mo nalang yun walis… tig-isa tayo… wag na natin sya patakasin…"

BF: "takot ako e…"

ME: "Kunin mo na kasi yun walis!!! Patayin na natin!!  Paluin lang natin mamamatay na yan! Diba dati naapakan mo lang yun malaking daga namatay kaagad?!"

BF: "takot ako e…"

ME: … "pano yun? hayaan lang natin siya?…" (FURIOUS!!)

BF: "takot ako e…"

after a few more minutes…

ME: "nawala na… sige na nga alis ka na… male-late ka na…"

BF: "Samahan mo ako bumaba…"

ME: ….

BF: … "tsinelas ba yun itim na yun?" (pointing towards the unidentified black object near the maid’s room located a floor below the living room…)

ME: … "Oo.. tsinelas yan ni Dolly…" (where our maid or madre de honor usually keeps her slippers)

BF: … "buksan natin ang ilaw…" (referring to the stairway light)

(switched the light on)

ME: "hindi yata yan tsinelas…"  It’s MICKEY!!! Lying on the floor….

Oh noh! Ano na gagawin namin?!? Patay na ba siya??!

BF made some noises…

Mickey.. didn’t move…

BF continued making some more noises…

Mickey.. still didn’t move…

ME: "Kunin mo ang walis, dust pan at plastic bag…"

ME: "Sayo ang walis.. akin ang dustpan… ilatag ang plastic bag…"

BF moved a few steps towards Mickey…

SCREAMED…

BF: "takot ako!!"

ME: "takot din ako e.." (started to cry…) "Ako nalang nga…"

Went near Mickey…

Got the walis…

SLAP SLAP SLAP!!!

BF was terrified by the sound as the walis hit the wall and the floor… stepped back and ranned far away…

ME… cried even more because I was simply too scared…

BF came back for me and hugged me… "takot ako…."

ME: "takot din ako e… patay na yata e… nde na kasi gumagalaw…"

BF: "sige ako nalang…. "

BF attempted to go near Mickey several times and tried very hard to sweep it using the walis and dust pan… although most of the time he just backed off and screamed his lungs out! I wasn’t able to do anything to help him other than scream along with him. We were just so afraid Mickey might get up and charge towards us.

After some more minutes…

BF successfully swept Mickey inside the dust pan and put it inside the plastic bag. He didn’t dare look inside the plastic bag.  I should do my part to help BF.  Walked near the plastic bag.. tied the plastic bag with my eyes half shut.

We conquered Mickey!! This time, in less than 30 minutes. The first time BF and I encountered this kind of an incident, we spent almost an hour taking care of the aftermath. We improved this time.  Less than 30 minutes.

BF and I hugged each other once again for we have overcomed another challenge that came our way.

BF waved goodbye… I walked him to the door…

I went back to the house … climbing up the staircase once again… thinking…

“is that dead Mickey the one I saw behind the cabinet???”

NOOOHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

the MADZ et al

Madsetal

Today, we watched the MADZ et al 2005 Concert Series at the Philamlife Tower Auditorium. This is a series of choral serenades hosted by the Philippine Madrigal Singers. The MADZ ET AL, now on its 22nd foundation, is spearheaded by alumni and the current crop of the Madz. Since 1983, the organization has been holding regular concerto-type services where member choirs perform Marian Songs. It also stages regular choral performances across the country and abroad all year. This year’s festival presents “Triumphs of Oriana”, a 16th century collection of 24 madrigals originally composed and arranged as a musical tribute to Queen Elizabeth I.  We watched the 3:30pm presentation.  The choirs that participated this afternoon were CJ Learning Center Choir, Corodela Reina, St. Paul University Chorale, and University of the East Chorale.  Most of the time while I was watching the show, my mouth was just left wide open… as in WOW!  Not to mention the superb performance of the adult choir groups, even the kids were fantastic! As a member of a chorale group in our small parish, I just wish someday our group will be able to perform like them. But of course I know how much hard work and money should be invested in order to get there. My dream just seems a bit difficult to reach.  Kahit sa panaginip nalang… HEHE  After watching the show, I got even more motivated to sing fullheartedly (and also correctly) in our own Anticpated Mass at the Church.  Road to that dream seems to be far ahead.  But I really wish someday we could make it big like them… which of course I included in my prayers to God during the mass today. Narinig kaya ako ni God? HEHE J

Cyclelogo

Cycle Mass Chorale is composed of Filipino-Chinese students and young professionals who are committed in serving God through music. The group is based in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish (Binondo Chinese Parish), the oldest parish that was established for the Filipino Chinese Catholics in Philippines.

The choir serves every Saturday during the Anticipated Celebration of the Holy Eucharist with its rich repertoire of songs in Chinese, English, Filipino, and at times even the old church language, Latin, setting a good atmosphere for worship. The chorale also participated in other celebrations like the special annual Chinese New Year Mass for the four Chinese parishes and most especially during the novenas for her patroness, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary. The members also serve other external apostolate such as the Megamall Chinese Sunday Mass and the Antipolo Pilgrimage Mass. Aside from these; the group also indulge in outreach programs to help our brothers and sisters who are in need.

Looking to grow further, the choir is accepting those who are interested to share their time and effort to be part of a spiritual family.

*** I am very proud to be part of the group. Iba ang samahan dito. J

Thought of composing another post in my blog while waiting for old Mr. Visual Age to load the testing environment. Ey, I’ve been waiting for more than an hour already, to think that I only added a few lines of code.  It just keeps on loading and loading and loading… like forever…  To kill time while waiting for that old V to finish it’s job, I read through the blogs of my friends (those who are linked to me).  Uhm… I hope my boss doesn’t read this page. hehe.. it’s a valid excuse.  I’m working anyways. J

Back to what I was talking about, I felt sad after reading one of my friend’s blog.  We’re not really close to each other, but it seems like she’s not happy with recent happenings in her life, and I feel for her.  From the looks of it, she probably just lost someone she loved very much and is currently struggling to cope.  Just realized how fragile relationships can be, even after several years of marriage.  For some unknown reason, I got a bit scared with the supposed to be "sacred bond".  Recently, I just heard so much about break-ups and failed marriages from friends and relatives.  What’s wrong?  In the end, the kids are the ones who suffer.  Anyways… I’m not in the position to comment anything as I’m not yet in that stage of my life.  I’m a born pessimist, but I really try my best to look at the brighter side of "marriage".  There are still happy couples that we can look upon to.  Once a friend told me that there are no perfect couple, but there is a way to perfect the way you deal with each other to get the best results.  So my hopes are high again.  I realize, if you love someone enough, you’ll be willing to bet your future on him/her.  God will be there to guide you.  Whatever happens, just be happy that you once had a family with him/her in your lifetime… sstttoopp.. getting too mushy. … gotta get back to work J

girlfriends

Friends
Met up with my college girlfriends today for shopping spree and dinner.  It’s really nice to see everybody once again.
The shopping spree was fun.  It just feels great to shop with a bunch of girls who can act as critics on the things that you intend to buy. Most often, I end up buying the things I pick coz everybody just keeps on commenting na "bagay! buy!"… So, even if I’m really tight on budget, GO! Buy pa rin! =)  That special way of bonding is the thing you can’t get out of any guy friends or even your own boyfriend.  And in the end, you like the things you buy even more because everybody’s making "bola" that you look great with it. hehe.. By the way, the mall is on sale today.  Just imagine the GIRL POWER and SPIRIT of digging into the sale items and looking for best buys.  We’re like an army attacking the opponent in a war. HAHA…  And after a tiring day, some are happy and some are not.  Some got good buys, and some are just frustrated that they didn’t even get a thing.
We had early dinner so that we could start chatting.  We talked about anything under the sun (or shall I say moon) and kept each other up-to-date with what’s goin’ on in our lives.  Although most of the time, we just talked about the whereabouts of our other classmates.. HEHE..  Everybody had their stories to tell and all of us were just laughing and giggling.  I didn’t even mind to eat the food on my plate.  Too bad we have to call it a day early as none of us had brought a car and we all have to commute.  It’s getting late so we just have to stop and leave the other stories till the next time we meet again.
I’m just so glad I have so many girlfriends… how could a girl live without one? =)

sweet tooth!

Saturday, May 7th, 2005
Yummy cake…  I was never a "dessert" person and definitely Ucc_midnightcake_3doesn’t have a sweet tooth like other girls do.  But I’ve noticed some change in myself recently.  I started to crave for sweets, especially  chocolates.  Hm.. does that explain why my weight zooms 2x faster than before??  Anyways, I really love this Midnight Chocolate Cake in UCC.  It’s a bit expensive but it’s definitely worth every bite.  Weird though, I usually enjoy eating dessert if another person or group of people eat with me.  Especially when all of us share only one serving.  I wonder what is it that I like… the sweets? or the company? ^__^

Hair Removal 101

Did they see the blog I posted yesterday? ;-)
Hair Removal 101

Shaving, waxing, epilating, Oh my! You are at that age when you start thinking about removing unwanted body hair. With so many methods to choose from, it’s hard to figure out which would be best for you. Here’s the low down on four of the most common ways to remove hair from places you don’t want ‘em to be.

Shaving: Shaving is the process of removing body (or facial, for men) hair with a razor made up of two blades.
Ouch Factor: None, unless you knick your skin and even then, it is bearable. nerally, you shave against the growth of your hair.

  • Generally, you shave against the growth of your hair.
  • Shaving can give you about four days of hair-free legs and about half of that amount of time for underarms. Within 24 hours though, you will see a bit of stubble already.
  • Use shaving cream and try to shave while in the shower so your skin is soft and agreeable to shaving. Conditioner works well too if you don’t wanna spend extra.
  • Discontinue shaving areas that turn red or get bumpy or itchy, as they will be more prone to infection. Wait until all that disappears before even thinking about shaving again.
  • Make sure to moisturize after shaving for soft, smooth legs.
Waxing: Waxing involves applying a thin layer of hot wax on your skin (recommended for legs, underarms, bikini area, upper lip and eyebrows-although if unsure leave it to the pros) and waiting for it to cool slightly and “trap” the hair. A clean cloth is then placed over it and the wax, along with your hair is ripped out in the direction opposite the growth of your hair.
Ouch Factor: Considerable. People with low pain tolerance will need to hold someone’s hand for this. I won’t lie, it does hurt!
  • Unlike shaving, it takes weeks for hair re-growth when you wax. Also, your hair will grown back finer and sparser. The wax acts like an exfoliant, so it leaves your legs softer and smoother.
  • Before waxing, do a spot test on a small patch of skin to check for any allergic reactions. Don’t use on broken skin or if there are any visible wounds or moles.
  • Wash your legs, or body part that you want to wax with soap and water. Any trace of moisturizer or make-up may hinder successful results because the wax won’t be able to “grip”.
  • Wait until your hair is 1/8 “long before waxing-for best results.
  • Heat the wax until it is soft but not runny, this will ensure that it won’t be too hot and won’t scald you

Depilatories: These come in gel, cream or lotion form and remove hair by dissolving the protein structure of your hair and cause them to separate from the skin. Needless to say, they contain chemicals.
Ouch Factor: None, unless you are allergic, in which case, it might cause irritation.

  • Although depilatories get rid of all hair it comes in contact with, it also zaps all the keratin from our skin.
  • Follow instructions carefully so you don’t leave the stuff on for too long, Careless usage can lead to burns and scarring.
  • Leave on depilatories for no more than fifteen minutes then wipe of gently with a clean piece of cloth. Rinse off with warm water afterwards.
  • Depilatories keep you hair-free for about 7 days.
  • This method of hair removal may cause ingrown hairs. To prevent scrub sensitive areas with a loofah or sponge.

Sugaring: This is an ancient method of hair removal is still being used in today’s world. It’s similar to waxing in it involves melted sugar and cloth strips to remove it all with. It differs slightly because unlike waxing, it doesn’t stick to the skin so it causes less discomfort. Also, it’s not as hot as waxing.
Ouch Factor: Less than waxing, but still hurts!

  • Here’s my contribution…
Epilator: This is a shaver-like machine that contains several tweezers which runs on electricity and automatically plucks the hair.  Same effect as plucking but definitely faster.  zip zip zip.. zap zap zap.. you’re done.  Stimulates and relaxes your skin before removing the hair for the most gentle epilation. Hair will grow back in 1-3 weeks.
Ouch Factor: It hurts at first.. but you’ll get used to it after a few tries.

    HAPPY SARDINES DAY!

    Thursday, May 5th, 2005
I notice lots of people have gave in to this "blog" thingy in friendster. Most of their blog sites are actually empty. Maybe most people just want to have another extra photo album activated, just like me. Anyways, just thought why waste the space our good old Friendster has alloted for us? So, here goes my blah blahs…
    HIGHLIGHTS for today:
    – REGIMEN —
Just finished my pedicure session (I’m proud I did it myself ^__^) a few minutes ago. My gulay… it’s really tiring. To think I did it for more than an hour. And this is just one of the regimens I have to do periodically. Others include eliminating unwanted body hair (I’m not gonna announce how I do it here though.. ^__^), shaping your brows, moisturize, remove blackheads, facial, blah blah blah… the list just goes on and on. Sometimes I think, is this "being a girl" thing really necessary? Am I happy doing all these stuff? During the "puberty" stage of our life, everybody is just excited to do everything and experience everything. So, does that mean, I’m way pass puberty and almost of a foot away from being "old"? Nooohhhh… So, I guess it really pays to be an "extra hard-working and patient" woman… After all, "no pain, no gain"… Who would want to be "old" anyway? not me! ^__^
    – STRAIGHT FROM THE OVEN –
HOT HOT HOT!! What else? I love summer, but I don’t like the HOT temperature!! (Again ma’am?) Just feel sticky everyday, like chicken being roasted to perfection… juicy and oily! eewww…
    – OIL PRICE INCREASE –
I have to admit, I’m old enough to be affected by the oil price increase. I remember Caltex Silver costed only 17 pesos per liter 4years ago. Now it’s double, or even more. So expect all your expenses to double in a few months. *DEYMN!*
    – HAPPY SARDINES DAY! –
Buwan, Araw, at Taon pala ng mga SARDINAS ngayon! It’s May 5, 2005 today! In short 05-05-05… kaya… HAPPY SARDINES DAY! This only occurs once in… like forever, davah???
