I’m so happy coz I got baptized today (July 31, 2005) at "Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary - Binondo Chinese Parish".  See, my mom and dad sing there every saturday with the choir during 6pm mass.  I also attend mass every saturday even when I’m still in my mom’s tummy.  I get really excited when they sing this fast chinese song (wo yi jing jue ding yao gen sui ye su…)  Makes me want to groove with the beat (with tune — "I’m coming out!… la la la la la)…!  Oh anyways, back to my baptism, Fr. Sierra was the one who christened me this morning.  Uhm.. I was still in a deep sleep when suddenly I felt a splash of cold water running over my head. And uhm.. ma, was that oil he wiped on my head?  But hey, I didn’t cry… I just continued snoozing coz I was just toooo sleepy.  Oh by the way! I’ve got lots of ninongs and ninangs!!!  Ninang Wanda is one of them, and I like her so so so much!  (i assume…)  she always calls me baby boy  and would always try to wake me up when i’m Lancemuasleeping… uhm.. dunno why?  Anyways.. after the baptism ceremony, we had a mini celebration at one of the restaurants nearby.  Again, I was sleeping most of the time (kahit na the clown at another children’s party made really really loud noises…)  My ama, angkong, guama, aunties, uncles, cousins were all there too.  And they soooo like poking me when I’m sleeping.  I must be cute.. they just can’t resist. HAHA…

Anyways, thanks ninang Wanda for providing my blah-blahs a little space here in your blog. :)

the LIMies…

Altar_3 July 24, 2005 — the day when my loving sweetmate marked another chapter in her life — from Ms. Ko to Mrs. Lim. Others might wonder why I address her as my "sweetmate". Actually, I would say that it’s her idea to call me by that name. That’s the malambing and lovely side of my officemate and good friend Millie, apart from her normal mataray self. :) We’ve been seatmates ever since God-knows-when while we were still in Unisys. She’s my dakilang secretary who would always answer phone calls for me when I’m not around. Hehe.. I still remember she was one of the first few people in the office who had a cellphone with matching Minnie mouse ornament that would light up whenever there are incoming calls and texts. When I finally got a cellphone of my own, she was my SMS tutor. :)

I can’t describe the exact thing I felt while seeing her walk down the aisle. My God, is this Pooh? She’s truly getting married. Such a beautiful bride. Of course, who can beat that flawless-snowy skin and slim figure! :) Anyways, like I said, it’s really amazing to witness her in the white gown saying "I do". It’s just like witnessing your own sister move that next big step in matrimony. Nakakatouch! :)

I’m gonna write a little detail here about the wedding coz it’s another memorable event worth blogging. :p The wedding ceremony was held at Christ the King, one of the most beautiful churches in Manila (for me). As famous wedding photographer Dinolara put it – "The light and the shadow coming from the window create a dramatic effect on the red carpet especially during the bride’s walk." It’s a photo/video friendly church. I got nice shots from my camera too. :) Another plus, the church was fully air-conditioned – that helped make my make-up last longer. (ow btw, I did it myself.. not bad huh? :p). The reception was at Makati-Shang. Again, the ambiance itself was breath taking. Yummy food, nice service, superb entertainment, professional emcee, beautiful flowers, elegant cake, well-organized coordinators, and of course — handsome groom, beautiful bride, and even more beautiful guests.. How about 10 stars for that? HAHA joke… :) basta one word to describe the entire event — successful. :)

* Side Kuwento 1:
Just like the wedding banquet I attended last June, this served as another ground for Unisys reunion. Met a lot of colleagues, some of which I didn’t meet last June. Some flew back from Singapore just to attend Pooh’s wedding. Astig! Hay… I miss them all…

* Side Kuwento 2:
A lot of people noticed how frequent I update my blog. Hehe.. o ayan… eto na ang latest update ko as you expected. :)

Gk_2 "Have you experienced the love of God in your life? Has He blessed  you and your family with His presence so that you know you are not alone? Do you feel so nurtured by God that you want to give something back to Him, to serve Him by serving others? We all know how to make monetary and goods donations, but few of us have the experience of getting to know the poor and getting involved."

Last Sunday, July 10, 2005, a few of our parish pastoral members (including Dex and moi) joined the Zhu Ai - Gawad Kalinga Activity. Zhu Ai, or Chinoy Catholic Action, is a movement under the Manila Filipino-Chinese Parishes Laity Association (MFCPLA) with the guidance of Msgr. Bong Lo and Fr. Ari Dy, S.J., of the Chinese-Filipino Apostolate Office. To celebrate the feast day of the 120 China Martyrs and Saints of China, Zhu Ai commenced this kick-off project in support of the housebuilding development at the Jaime Cardinal Sin Village, which is located at F. Manalo Street, Sta. Ana, Punta Pandacan. Chinoy and Pinoy Catholics gathered and participated in social action through this movement. A lot of representatives from the Filipino-Chinese parishes (i.e. Mary the Queen, Binondo Chinese Parish, San Jose de Troso, St. Jude, Damar, St. Peter, etc. ) attended this event.

There were 6 of us who were supposed to attend the event. However, the other 2 couldn’t make it so only 4 of us went. Meeting time was set at 7am and Orientation at 8am. As expected, Binondonians are always late. hehe.. We left LRA at 8am already which was 1 hour delayed. Had  a grand entrance and introduction when we arrived at the venue. Like in front of more than a hundred people? HEHE… So ok, we were late, only 4 of us attended, we catched enough attention.. that’s great.  What could be more embarrassing than that? J Anyways, mass was held at 9-10am. We had a some prep-talks before getting ready for the job. That was when the representative of Gawad Kalinga explained to us what their organization is all about (please look at the footer for more information). By 10:45am, Fr. Bong Lo started to count how many roller brushes and pans each organization brought and the housebuilding activity started.  We were assigned to paint the final coating of the walls and doors so that it’ll be easier for us.  The challenging work were left to the pros.  We had so much fun and learned a lot (thanks to the manong who taught us). Magkarpintero ay di biro talaga. hehe…   The girls painted the yellow walls, while our guy friend took care of the pillars. BF was the all around guy who did anything under the sun (i.e. painted the walls, grab elevated chair and other tools from somewhere, took pictures, etc). We’re proud we did a lot of work in a short span of time… and we did our job well too! J At around 12pm, everybody gathered together and had lunch.  We were asked to bring packed lunch and a little extra for sharing.  The people from Mary the Queen were kind enough to ask us to join them as we were only 4 in our group. They even shared their food with us. The kiampeng looks yummy but I didn’t get na nakakahiya kasi. hehe.. ako may hiya? hohoho…   The event ended at around 1pm.

Honestly, I wasn’t really enthusiastic when I heard about the activity coz I’m not really a fan of Jaime Cardinal Sin (for political reasons).  But now, I’m glad I joined coz I got to see the other side of the picture. Overall, this was an interesting experience as it wasn’t only fun, but there’s also the sense of achievement.  We experienced how to paint, met a lot of people, and more importantly, made a little contribution for those who are in need.

I’m looking forward to participate in another Zhu Ai and Gawad Kalinga activity.  It would be nice if my family and friends  could join as well.  By the way, Gawad Kalinga and Zhu Ai are both on-going movements, I urge everybody to inquire and participate in their activities. Masaya talaga… at bonding pa. J

Abby’s Wedding

June 27th, 2005 by yangwk

Last Sunday was Abby & Mike’s wedding. Annie and I were part of the entourage. As what I’ve mentioned in my last blog, I was terribly sick during the past weekend. Even had to ask for sick leave 2nd time in a row for the month of June only. Diyahe… not withstanding the fact that any leaves I take until September will be counted as leave without pay. Anyways, I was quite worried the night before the wedding coz my fever just keeps coming back. My throat really hurts and worse of all, I started to have running nose. GEESSH… Hates na hates ko pa naman ang running nose and endless sneezing… and oh! including the red nose! HUHUHU… I don’t wanna be Rudolf on Abby’s wedding…. Christmas is still far away!! Hay… I really hoped that I’ll be ok the next morning that’s why I took different kinds of medicines.. halo halo na… basta lang gumaling. I was hoping to get better even for just one day. Kahit na magstop lang muna fever ko and the running nose. The following morning, I woke up at around 5am and noticed my fever seems to be striking again. So I ate medicine again to be sure lang. By 8am, hm… I felt better coz I’ve already started perspiring. Ok, so get aready na to go to the make-up artist. I booked Ms. Jory of Visage Salon in Libis for Annie and my make-up. Denise and Effie Go, both famous make-up artists from Cosmo, own the salon. Apparently, Denise and Effie weren’t available that day so I thought Ms. Jory would be as good. I was told by the girl who took my appointment na light din naman daw siya magmake-up. True enough, I’m quite satisfied with Ms. Jory’s work. I told her I wanted a nude look. And she listened to my comments naman. And I love my hair! Never tried tying my hair into a bun abefore.

Anyways, about the wedding… Well, I can say that I was really touched. Abby’s husband is the happiest groom I’ve seen so far sa mga weddings na na-attend ko. I saw tears at the corner of his eyes while Abby was walking down the aisle. He even requested to kiss the bride once again after nung "you may now kiss the bride" part… Hehe anyways, I wish them luck…. I’m sure Abby will be very happy with her married life.

I feel sick sick sick… haven’t had fever for quite some years.  I was just wondering if i’m just getting stronger the past few years.  Then, BHAM! I got sore throat and fever today.. instantly.  Hehe.. was just thinking maybe I can shed some pounds over the weekend.  True enough, I had diarrhea last week then fever this week. Yeah right.  God do answer prayers. HEHE.. I just wish I’ll be able to recover as soon as possible coz I really wanna look good this sunday on my friend’s wedding.  I was just hoping I’ll be able to experience being an ‘abay’ before I get hitched myself.  And again, God heard my prayers and gave me 2 abay opportunities this year.

Fever1_3Gotta get some rest… Have to work tomorrow…  I envy those people working or studying in manila coz they get another day off tomorrow (Manila Day).  In Makati, there’s no such holiday.  Makati day is just another busy day where people block the streets and make life of workers (esp. those who have to commute through public transportation) worse than ever.

Sherjiff_liezl_wedding Talking about lots of friends getting hitched this year.  Just came back from the wedding bash of my friends Sherjiff and Liezl.  Congratulations to both of them!  So far, this is the 3rd wedding I’ve attended for this year.  And there are still 5 more weddings to come.  I wonder what’s with year 2005? :)   Anyways, both the bride and the groom were my officemates for 7.5 years in the previous company.  Hence, I got the chance to meet my ex-colleagues in the reception, including my previous boss.  Just feels so good to see old faces again….

June13

No work and classes on June 13th!! I wasn’t expecting this holiday coz it was previously announced that 13th will be a working day. Laking “Haaaayyy…”.  I guess Pres.  G changed her mind to gain back lost popularity brought about by the tape scandal. Hehe.. whatever is the reason, I’m so glad to hear the news coz that means another snoozing day for me. I hunger for REST badly.  Haven’t got a break since the start of the year. I even have to take Stresstabs daily to combat fatigue (which is so unlikely of me coz I never had the habit of taking vitamins). Imagine switching jobs without even taking a break in the middle. Since I’m still under probationary, that means no leaves yet.  No work no pay.  That is the price I have to give for taking too many absences in my previous job. Haha… as in, I would take every Thursday as my rest day without the boss knowing about it. Hehe…

Bowling

Our company held a bowling tournament today at Rockwell to give employees a breather time. This event is the sportsfest for the 2nd quarter of year 2005 (we have one every quarter).  The last time I played bowling was like… 3, 4, 5 years ago? So I wasn’t expecting to get a high score. True enough, I got the scores I expected. I think I can’t bare to announce my scores here. Haha…  It’s my first time to play cosmic bowling.  My skills aren’t good, the dim light made it even worse. Haha… But the event was fun.  I met all my officemates, which most of the faces I couldn’t really recognize. It’s quite funny coz I always give people a very polite and friendly smile whenever I meet them in the elevator. Malalaman ko nalang, di ko pala officemate yun.  Taga ibang floor pala. Hehe…  I just can’t remember their faces. Anyways, the event was fun even though my arms still hurts while I’m typing this blog. Hm…. Ano kaya ang sport sa susunod na sportsfest?  I guess I will still be the “Saling-pusa” coz I hardly know any sports that I’m really good at. Hehe… Sana EatFest nalang. J
